I was talking to my husband about this wedding the other day, and he said something along the lines of “Wow. What a crazy intimate glimpse you get into one of the biggest days of a person’s life.” And it hit me hard, the truth of that statement

I’m there in the quiet room when it’s just you and your Mom as she helps you do up the back of your dress. That moment when you turn around and her eyes fill up and your eyes fill up and both of you catch your breath as you try not to cry.

I’m there in that last moment before you walk down the aisle, when your Dad looks at you and his memories of you as a little girl and the memory you of you there in your wedding dress blend and blur. And it’s beautiful and heart wrenching all at once.

I’m there when you say your vows, and slip on your rings, and open your hearts to all the graces of the Sacrament of marriage.

I’m there in that quiet, stolen moment after the ceremony, when it’s just the two of you, and you can’t help but marvel at the wonder of what you’ve just done.

I’m there at the best party you’ll ever throw, surrounded by all the people you love most in the world, as you dance and laugh and fall into the joyful rhythm of loving and being loved.
