Becca gets the hiccups when she’s excited.
And the morning of the wedding, Becca was so excited. Becca’s mom had a full plan if the hiccups got out of control, but we never quite got to that point. Don’t get me wrong, there were certainly a few soft hiccups here and there. But I think the hiccups never reached their full potential because Becca had this total sense of peace about her in the hours before her wedding.
Becca and Michael are among the Brave Souls Who Got Married in 2020.
Yes, it’s capitalized.
Yes, it’s a thing.
This year has been, and continues to be, a lot. But every time I spoke with these two, including in the two weeks before their wedding when they weren’t sure where they’d be having their reception (!!!), they were peaceful. And I found out how they’d maintained that peace on the morning of their wedding.
These two got married on December 12th, the Feast Day of Our Lady of Guadalupe. They also finished their 33 day consecration to Our Lady on that day. And goodness, Mary was so, so present on Becca and Michael’s day. It was supposed to rain all day, but miracle of miracles, we ended up with a sunny and 65 degree day.
In the middle of December.
In Cincinnati. WHAT?
The reception venue, Emmett Ridge Farm, wasn’t originally available when they tried to book it. But in the week or so before the wedding, they had a cancellation. I’m telling you, Mary is the best intercessor, amirite?
Becca + Michael, thank you for asking me to be part of your day. From the weather, to the Mass, to the reception location, to the perfect amount of hiccups, this day was a joy to photograph. Thank you for your yes to each other. Thank you for being a light in the darkness that was this year. Thank you for your witness of Sacramental marriage.
Buen camino, you two.
