A Gorgeous Fall Wedding at St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Steubenville, OH | Madeleine + Michael

There were so many moments during Maddie + Michael’s day that hit deep. So many moments that form a clear picture of who these two are as individuals, and who they are together. From the way Maddie + her girls started the day in prayer because their friendships are rooted in faith. To the moment her mom did up her dress, and they both went still. I have to imagine her Mom’s heart skipped a beat as she remembered the baby girl Maddie was juxtaposed with the woman she is now.

And the moment before Maddie walked down the aisle, before the doors opened. Just her and her Dad. In the calm. In the quiet.

And the way Maddie and Michael rested together after saying their vows, both looking at their rings, fully aware that life had just changed and the graces that settled upon them.

And the absolute delight in that first kiss in front of all their favorite people in that packed church. And then another shared in the back, just the two of them. In the calm again. In that quiet.

And then every once in a while, Ohio does this magical midwest thing. It’s raining just slightly, and the sun comes out, and the whole world seems to glitter. It happened during their first dance. The sun broke through as they danced in that light rain, and as the air began to sparkle, I had to wonder if in that moment we were glimpsing God’s promise of grace lived out in marriage. There will be storms. There will be crosses. Some great. Some small. But when we trust, when we lean into the knowledge of who God is, there is hope. There is light.

These little moments woven throughout the larger picture of your wedding day are such a gift for me, friends. Because through them, through you, through your yes to each other, you offer the world a glimpse of God’s light. A glimpse of His hope. And it will always be an honor to capture a little glimpse into His love for you.
