Pittsburgh Museum of Art + Mellon Park Engagement | Emily + Ross

Some sessions feel like stepping into a story mid-sentence—and that’s how it was with Emily and Ross. Their engagement session began in the gorgeous marble halls of the Pittsburgh Museum of Art, where everything felt calm, elegant, and just a little surreal. The soft light filtered through the grand architecture, and the stillness of the space gave their quiet connection room to unfold.

Emily’s velvet dress made the whole scene feel cinematic, like a still from an old film. Ross, ever a steady presence, brought the kind of calm that holds its own in a space like that. They didn’t perform. They didn’t need to. They just found each other again and again, even in the quietest moments.

Later, we wandered into Mellon Park—one of my favorite corners of the city for its soft light, secret garden feel, and classic stonework. It’s a favorite among Pittsburgh engagement photographers for a reason. The change of pace suited them: less formality, more breeze, more movement. There was a kind of warmth between them that doesn’t ask for attention, it just invites you in.

Near the end of the session, they brought out their rosaries for a few shots, and stood together, forehead to cheek. That small detail—unposed and sincere—felt like the heart of the session.

There’s something steady about the way they move through the world together. Photographing them didn’t feel like work; it felt like watching two people simply be who they are, side by side. Emily and Ross, thank you for trusting me to capture this season. I can’t wait to witness the next chapter of your story.

For couples who believe love is sacred, storytelling is an art, and beauty is found in the still moments between.
