Fitzpatrick Family | Steubenville, OH

Erin showed up on my doorstep three years ago with the best pot of lentil soup I’ve ever had and a warm loaf of homemade bread. Alex and I had just moved to Steubenville, OH and we hardly knew anyone. I might have been a bit desperate for friends. Our first son had just been born, and we signed up for a meal train when we got home from the hospital. If you’re not familiar with them, meal trains are magic for families with new babies. Seriously. We didn’t have to worry about cooking dinner for the first SIX weeks after Jack was born, because they appeared on the doorstep from incredibly generous people we’d never met.

Erin was one of those people.

When she dropped off our meal, we got to chatting and I found out she had a little boy about the same age as Jack. She seemed like a nice person so I tried not to sound crazy while begging her to come over for coffee that week. Three years, a few more kids, and lots of wine and laughter later, we’ve become very good friends.

I’m so glad I didn’t scare her off that day, and so grateful God answers prayer with friends when you need them most.
