When I asked Nate and Alyssa where they’d like to shoot their engagement photos, Alyssa mentioned a bench near PNC Park. When the forecast called for rain, so we made a backup plan to meet at The Pennsylvanian in downtown Pittsburgh. It’s a stunning backdrop, but I so hoped the rain would hold off so we could make it to that bench. It overlooked the water, had an incredible view of the skyline, and happened to be the spot where Nate officially asked Alyssa out a few years ago.
On that date, Alyssa asked Nate what his hopes and dreams were for the future. Sharing that kind of thing with someone can be a scary. There’s a level of trust that’s required to share openly and freely, to be a little vulnerable, to be totally honest.
Alyssa shared first. She looked across the water at Highmark and said she’d love to be an executive, to have a corner office with a view. Want to know what Nate said? He told her he wanted to be a husband and a father.
Oh!
How beautiful it is to share such complimentary dreams with the person you love most in the world.
And I wonder, as they sat on that bench, if they knew they’d be here now, living those dreams and building that future right alongside each other.
Alyssa and Nate—you two are a gem of a couple. I’m so grateful I get to serve you as you step into your dreams together and I cannot wait to celebrate you two next year.
Until then,
C
